Brian Jenkinson
Brian Jenkinson describes himself as "just a thick ole fen boy what knows something about computers". He became involved in forensic computing by accident in the late '80s when he was found to be one of the few in his Constabulary who knew how to switch a computer on. In those days this was the standard test to become an 'expert'.
Head of the Cambridgeshire Fraud Squad in the '90s he sat on the ACPO Computer Crime Group and the (then) Forensic Computer Group (now DEG). He chaired the FCG Training sub-committee when they identified and implmented the requirement for pratitioner training which brought about the close relationship between the FCG and Cranfield University. He retired from the Police in 1999 and became a forensic computer consultant whilst retaining close ties with Cranfield, RMCS and the Centre for Forensic Computing. He was appointed a visiting Professor by Cranfield in 2004 and remains deeply committed to practitioner training and education, tutoring on the MSc programme and engaged in research to the benefit of the forensic community. As a forensic consultant he acts for both prosecution and defence together with carrying a caseload in the commercial and civil sectors. He has a Msc, BSc (hons), BA, FBCS and CITP.
